Gluten Free Apple Cider Donut
Our gluten eating friends don’t get to have all of the fun!
Recently, our family went apple picking in Virginia and everyone got to enjoy apple cider donuts except for me.
I took a stab at making GF Apple Cider donuts with ingredients I didn’t mind feeding my children & they did not disappoint!
If you give it a go, tag me on Instagram at @farmfreshfamily so I can celebrate with you!!
GF Baked Apple Cider Donuts:
1 cup of Organic Apple Cider
2/3 cup of Organic Unsweetened Applesauce
2 1/2 cups of GF Flour (Bob’s Red Mill)
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda (aluminum free)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp of all spice
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup of farm fresh raw yogurt or plain Greek yogurt
1 stick of farm fresh meted butter (3/4 for recipe, 1/4 for topping)
2 farm fresh corn free/soy free eggs
Topping:
1:1 ration of cinnamon and organic sugar
1/4 cup of butter
🔅Preheat oven to 350.
🔅Mix dry ingredients and wet ingredients (most people would separate this step, I throw it all into the same bowl - you do you) 😉
🔅Place mix into a piping bag and pipe into a donut mold (or cupcakes, or random globs - whatever!)
🔅Bake for 8-10 minutes and check them. If they’re golden brown on the bottom they are done. If not, leave them in a bit longer. They should be soft yet firm when you touch the top - not mushy!
🔅Let the donut tray rest on the counter for 5 minutes.
Last step is optional but OH SO DELICIOUS: mix cinnamon and sugar together, paint on melted butter to donut and then dip into mixture.
Other topping options:
🔅melted butter with cinnamon sprinkled or maple syrup with cinnamon sprinkled.
