Why I Love Yoto Mini for My Kids

Recently, we purchased the Yoto Mini for our children and I am so glad we did!

Some features that sold me on buying them were:

  • They’re easy to use

  • Unwanted features can be removed (like the timers, bluetooth/wifi, access to kids stations, etc.

  • I can record my own stories (and so can loved ones - imagine my mother reading a story for them and then them being able let their children hear and know her voice after she’s no longer Earthside…I mean COME ON. What I would give for my Grandma to be able to read to my kids!

  • It’s an awesome learning tool - it does not replace reading books to our kids, but allows them an opportunity to explore books that they wouldn’t be able to without mom and dad reading to them all the time. The books can be educational (and most of ours are).

  • The “read along” capability. We have downloaded books that they have physical copies of and as they are listening, they can follow along in their books.

When asking our kiddos what they were interested in learning they mentioned: reading, Spanish, more about the human body, the Bible and animals.

As I was looking through the Yoto library I realized I could meet most of those needs there and I purchased The Human Body series, an animal/critters series, Spanish books, and even some of the kiddos favorite childhood books like The Hungry Caterpillar.

What really sold me on the Yoto was being able to make my own cards with audio that I found elsewhere online. I went to a site called libro.fm and found the kid’s Jesus Storybook Bible on there.  I decided to sign up for their membership club because it gets us 2 books per month “free of charge” and a 30% discount on all other purchases. I was also hooked up automatically with a referral link - so if you’re in the market you can sign up here!

After navigating few books through Yoto and Libro.fm, I snagged some Make Your Own cards from Amazon and then it was time to start accessorizing these mini audiobooks!

I ended up getting each kiddo a case for their Yoto to help protect it, but also to keep them from grabbing each other’s device without knowing.  Aria got the teal cover and Landon got the grey.  They come with a matching wrist band which is great for when the kids are walking and listening.

I also grabbed a 2 pack of headphones. Honestly, I chose these because A, my best friend had just purchased them and I saw them in real life & B,  I have two kids and it included two headphones.  Solid mom win.

I also snagged hard cases to put the Yoto Mini in as well as chords and some audiobook cards.  I figured this would be the most organized (and safe) way to travel with their Yoto’s - allowing them to be responsible for their individual cases.  Again, I went with two different colors to prevent any sibling rivalries as they tried to grab their case.  Aria got the white with orange zipper option, while Landon got the orange with white zipper option.  I am happy to report that zero fights have occurred between the two of them for headphones, cases, cards, or Yotos. Praise the Lord.

The last accessory I added to the cart was this credit card holder for the book cards. I wanted an option that zipped closed because I’m notorious for throwing cards in and not putting them back how they’re supposed to go and then doing a mass clean up at the end of the week. Anyone else?!
