The Thankful Jar

The thankful jar started when we began honoring our day of rest as a way of acknowledging what we were thankful for each week. It’s such a cute concept and can be applied to all families as a way to connect with each other.

Each week, at Sabbath dinner, we take a moment to reflect on what we have to be thankful for and each of us write our own thoughts down, fold up our paper, and throw it into a jar.

Once a quarter, we take one Sabbath dinner off from writing and instead read all of our past gratitude papers out loud.

We’ve found that by doing this, it allows us to see another side of our family members that they wouldn’t normally share and let us reflect on how far we’ve come in such a short time.

I highly recommend incorporating this practice into your family’s rhythm!
