Holistic Lifestyle
When it comes to taking care of your health, many people think that means that you have to have a primary doctor and get routine check ups… and while that very well could be part of it, it’s most certainly not the end all be all.
Learning to care for your body holistically provides you with a wealth of knowledge for things that may otherwise be considered emergent.
Point in case: fevers, vomiting and diarrhea. Many would say that these three things qualify you as sick; but I would argue that those three things prove that you’re in fact a healthy individual.
Stick with me here…
Fevers, vomiting and diarrhea prove that your body is doing exactly what it’s supposed to to fight unwanted invaders to your system. If you were unhealthy, your body wouldn’t have those responses to unwanted visitors in your system… thus making you truly sick.
So when you or your loved ones are experiencing these side effects, don’t freak out - instead take a deep breath and be thankful that their bodies are healthy enough to fight!
Often times, you feel better after your body forcibly eliminates whatever it doesn’t want to be there.
Now there are many things you can do to help ease the discomfort that comes with expressing health and we will dive into that in a bit.
Health Care:
As far as medical care goes, you can be in control of your own medical journey! Remember, you hire your doctors, not the other way around.
In our family we choose to pay out of pocket for appointments which allows us the freedom to choose who we see without needing any referrals to be seen there.
Our favorite ongoing healthcare practice is going to our Gonstead Chiropractor on a weekly basis. We are constantly disrupting our spinal alignment with falls, bumps, improper posture during chores etc. Being able to check in on a weekly basis and align our spine allows our body to operate at full capacity and boosts the healing within our body on a large scale! I highly recommend finding a chiropractor that focuses on the nervous system and plug in with them! It will change your life.
Nutrition & Lifestyle:
Another important consideration for improving your health on the preventative side of things is to look at your diet and lifestyle.
What foods are you consuming? What are they made up of and how do those ingredients help or harm your body and its overall function?
Foods to steer clear of are seed oils, processed foods, food dyes, cancer causing additives and thickeners, “natural flavorings”, and other inflammatory foods.
By cleaning up your diet and sourcing nutrient dense foods, you’ll find that issues you’re currently struggling with likely disappear without the help of medicines - well, conventional medicines… because food is medicine.
I am a huge advocate for the carnivore diet, and although I don’t follow it to a T, the basis of our dietary lifestyle revolves around the carnivore diet principles. If you’re unaware - the carnivore diet is comprised of meats, organs, honey, fruits, animal fats, and raw dairy. Although that seems like such a short list, there are so many delicious carnivore based meals that can be created around it. Two incredible sources for this way of eating are Dr. Paul and Lindsay - they share lots of recipes and studies on why animal based is so beneficial for your body.
Natural Remedies:
Learning more about natural remedies is a huge help when it comes to caring for things that may pop up at home.
