Sabbath Breakfast Boards
For years, I’ve run a Mom Meet Up community where I organize fun events for mamas. Anyone who creates events knows that the way to get people to come is to have food - the better it’s presented, the more people turn out.
For this reason, I connected with a friend who makes charcuterie boards. She led a couple of events for our meetup group and taught us some fun tips and tricks when creating boards.
Many times the kids watched as I created individual charcuterie boxes for events or beautiful boards for events and they snuck a couple of bites in.
Someone once made a reference to the fact that we go out of our way to use fancy dishes and make fun meals for guests and then don’t celebrate our family the same way. That really stuck with me, so I try to squeeze fancy fun things into our day to day life.
Sometimes in the afternoons I’d throw together little boards with snacks on them and the kids would help me look up fun creations. Aria in particular became very invested in fun food boards.
When we had our first Sabbath breakfast, I decided I wanted to make it special for the kids. The whole idea was to create a family rhythm that the kids looked forward to that would bring us together.
When they woke up that first Saturday morning and came down for breakfast, Landon said “Did you make this for US?!” He was so surprised that I had made a board for HIM and not for work.
And from then on, every week they looked forward to making boards with me. This has become such a part of our rhythm that Aria knows what day of the week it is based off of when she ate her last breakfast board!
I let them get as creative as they want whether it’s designing fun shapes, learning new recipes to feature on the board or picking out yummy things to add to the board each week.
It’s a fun tradition to incorporate into your family and such an easy win!
